Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions.

What makes Saga different from ChatGPT?

Saga remembers your conversations across sessions and stores everything locally on your device. It's designed for ongoing self-reflection, not one-off questions. Over time, Saga learns your patterns and can offer insights about yourself that you might miss.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your journal and notes are stored as files on your computer—I can't see them. Unlike ChatGPT or Claude, we never train on your conversations. I only store your account info and usage metrics for billing—not your content.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

Your files stay on your computer. They're standard markdown files that work with any text editor. You keep everything you've created.

Can I use Saga offline?

You can access your files offline since they're stored locally. However, AI conversations require an internet connection.

What platforms does Saga support?

Saga is currently available for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel). Windows and Linux support is planned.

Is there a mobile app?

Not yet. Saga is currently Mac-only. We're focused on making the desktop experience exceptional before expanding to other platforms. Your data syncs via your own cloud storage (iCloud, Dropbox, etc.) so it's ready when mobile arrives.

Does Saga just agree with everything I say?

No. Saga is designed to be a trusted advisor, not a yes-man. It will challenge your assumptions, ask clarifying questions, and point out blind spots when needed. Real growth requires honest feedback, and Saga is built to give you that—supportively but directly.

Can I import my existing notes?

Yes! Saga works with markdown and plain text files. You can point Saga at an existing notes folder or copy your notes into your Saga vault. See the Migration Guide for details.

Is Saga a replacement for therapy?

No. Saga is a self-reflection tool, not a substitute for professional mental health support. If you're dealing with serious mental health challenges, please seek help from a qualified professional.
