Privacy Policy

The Short Version

Saga Labs, LLC ("Saga") is built local-first: your journal entries and conversations are stored on your device, not our servers. When you chat, your messages are sent to AI providers to generate responses, but they're not stored or used for training. We collect only what's needed to run the service—your email and usage data for billing.

What Data Stays Local

• All your conversations with Saga
• Your journal entries and personal notes
• Your conversation history and context

This data is stored locally on your Mac in standard markdown files that you own and control. You can read, export, back up, or delete this data at any time using any text editor or file manager.

What We Process

When you send a message, your conversation is sent to third-party AI providers to generate a response. This is necessary for Saga to work.

• Conversations are processed in real-time and not stored on our servers
• We do not use your data to train AI models, and our AI providers do not train on your data
• We do not sell your data to third parties

Account Information

If you create an account or subscribe to Saga, we collect:

• Email address — for account management, support, and important updates
• Payment information — processed securely by our payment processor; we do not store your card details
• Usage data — tokens used and associated costs for billing
• Analytics data — how you use Saga (features used, errors encountered) to help us improve the product

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• Access — your conversations and journal entries are on your computer in readable markdown files
• Export — your data is already in standard formats you can copy anywhere
• Delete local data — delete your .saga folder anytime
• Delete account data — email privacy@saga.chat to request deletion of your account and associated data from our servers
• Cancel — cancel your subscription anytime from your account settings

If you're in California or the EU, you have additional rights under CCPA and GDPR, including the right to know what data we have, request deletion, and opt out of data sales (though we don't sell your data). Contact privacy@saga.chat for any requests.

Third-Party Services

We use the following categories of services to operate Saga:

• AI providers — to generate responses (conversations not stored or used for training)
• Authentication & database — to manage accounts and store billing data
• Payment processing — to handle subscriptions securely
